Making the switch to LEDs

I just got my BoostLEDs in today and am working on the rigging to set them up in my canopy. They are very nice, and include heat sinks, though not dim-able. Hoping to get this in tonight, but may have to wait for some help.

They will come on before the main light to slowly bring the tank in the light, sort of a sunrise/sunset thing.

Ok, so I have been running these fore 2 days and just logged onto my Apex to check the electric usage. My old T5s used 7.1 amps per day, and the LEDs only use 2.5 amps per day. Now maybe I will see a little something in my electric bill next month, and see cooler temps in my tank.

BTW I got some PAR readings. My old T5s at the sand, 31" deep and the lights about 10" off the water was about 60. THe LEDs are 140+ at the same place.

Welcome to the new world what took you so long.If i was 100 % sps i would stay with mh but anything short of that i think leds are the best way to go.just my humble opinion.

Before I got them I was so confused on LEDs and it took me a long time to decided what to do. Now that they have been on my tank, admittedly only 3 days, I am impressed so far and happy I made the change.

Anyone interested in checking them out PM me and we will get a good time for you to come by.

My LEDs have been on my tank for 10 days now and everything is doing great, except for a blue tort SPS coral. I am sure it was dying/dead before I put up the LEDs but I did not take it out as I was hoping the new lights would help if it were not all the way gone. Other than that things seem much better, even my maxim that was starting to turn from blue to off white is now getting bluer every day. Overall, so far I am very happy with my purchase.

10 inches off the water and the par reading was still over 150? Impressive.

I just set up my 2 EcoTech Radions last Sunday. Very glad I made the switch over to LED. I can appreciate where you are coming from, congrats and good luck!

My LEDs have been on one moth today, and everything seems great, some of the hard corals have visibly and dramatically increased, while others have grown at a slower pace. All of them, however, are visually much brighter and richer in color.

For work I travel a bunch. (actually writing this waiting for my plane to board in Houston) As cool as the new Radions are to program, I sure hope they don't start acting up while I am away. I am super excited to see the results after one month. Crossing my fingers that I will be as fortunate as you in regards to color richness and overall enhancement.
