Is this light too powerful full for refuguim?

Hello,

I have been given a grow light but wonder if it's too powerful for Cheato?

Thanks

If you have it, then you might as well use it. Might not need to run it very long each day. But it will certainly grow chaeto.

Suggest hanging height: 24-32 inch; lighting area: about 2 square meters;
It is a bit overkill but can certainly be used..
You really only need like 10-20W max for your setup if that.

Upon reading further its your typical overstated wattage BS..
Description states 138W
But further down..
Actual wattage: about 60w±5%.

I'm using a 165W Chinese black box over mine because I had an extra one but I only have it at like 10% and I'm lighting roughly a 12" x 14" fuge.. growth is insane..

How long should I run the light on the refugium, not just the above light but any light. I'm currently running a 12 watt par 38 grow bulb at the moment?

You can run it as long as you wish, up to 24 hours, plants honestly do not care. People may talk about "rest or respiration periods", but that is just not how it works. In the horticulture world you go 24/7 all the way up until you induce flowering; and likewise some macro in a refugium NEEDS to be 24/7 to stop it from reproducing.

Most people use a night cycle eventually (run refugium when display lights are off) to help with PH levels at night (uses CO2) which generally goes down in a typical house.

In the end it might simply depend on how much you need to export.
