28 Gallon Nano Cube return pump upgrade???

Hey guys, I'm looking to up upgrade my return pumps for my jbj 28 gallon nano cube and wanted to see if anybody could post some recommendations or links?

Also, i'm planning on ditching my Koralia 1 for a vortech mp10. If I do this, do you think I should still upgrade my returns?

I would just go the MP10. After that, the flow should be more than enough in your tank.

+1 on the MP10

i just added a MP40 on my 40b and wow its awesome.
i swapped out my return on my jbj 24 to a MJ1200 which is 300gph and its a good strong flow, you could do both. i got my mj for like $20.

Maxi-jet 1200s were pretty much a drop-in on my tank. And a waste of $$ really. Most of the real flow comes from my k1. If I had it to do over I'd apply the $60 (MJ1200s and K1) to the price of a pump like the mp10. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, especially with a little bit of locline to further direct the flows, but the k1 does more than the MJ1200s by far, and from everything I've seen the MP10 would do 2-3 times what the k1 can do.

My current plan is to remove one of the MJ1200 returns and replace the K1 with a variable speed pump. ... but that's based on theory and I haven't tried it yet.

Alright, I think i'll just go with the mp10 then. One more question though.

Should I get the ecotech upgrade? From what I can tell it looks like it would only be useful if I had multiple powerheads or needed more power. So I wasn't planning on getting one. Is this correct?

MP10's are for circulation not return. I would suggest also a Taam Rio 6HF. They are a drop in for the BioCubes and I think the JBJ's. Higher flow rates slightly and less power/heat.

yeah I know they're for circulation that's why I was thinking about just getting the mp10 cause flowrate won't be a concern anymore.

thanks for the info Marc I'll check that one out

I use a mp10 in my jbj 28 and I love it. I have no dead zones and even have the power turned down a little.
