A couple of things; I agree that there is no real reason to be above 400, my tank runs between 380 & 400 and everything grows great. This may sound crazy, but do you have a clam(s), if so, they drain your ca big time, I think this is why my ca runs a little low.

Magnesium is at 1080

My experience with these test kits is that there will be a drop as they get older.
A comparison of my last three test kits and between two at a time reavealed a difference of 40 today and 20 last year.

This means my calcium levels may have been at around 440 when I wrote the initial post in this thread.
14 months have passed and today I got 3 new Salifert test kits.

The old calcum test kit gave a reading at 340
The new calcum test kit gave a reading at 375

The old alkalinity test kit gave a reading at 5,7
The new alkalinity test kit gave a reading at 5,7

The old magnesium test kit gave a reading at 1185
The new magnesium test kit gave a reading at 1350

There is a tendency for the calcium kit to drop as it gets older.
Three comparisons have revealed 40, 20 and 35 lower numbers in the older kits.
The kit that showed higher value the year before will become the lower next year.

Alkalinity stayed at 5,7.

Magnesium I'd say is more correct for the old kit compared to my Ca and Alk levels.

Not trying to prove anything. It's just good to be aware of these things.

I've got yet another new trio of Salifert test kits.
This time I'm signing out with the calcium test kit.
I've been using it for two years and it expires in 2019.

The old calcium test give gave a reading at 380.
The new calcium test kit gave a reading at 460.

The calcium kit values will drop considerably as it gets older.
Four comparisons have revealed 40, 20, 35 and 80 in lower numbers for the older kits.
The kit that showed the higher value the year before will become the lower next year.

---

The new test kit is much more likely to be correct than the old one given the circumstances.
Two months ago I verified my old kits values with a comparison using Red Sea test kit.
Perhaps more kits have this same problem.

Again not trying to prove anything, but repeating results should raise some eyebrows.
