Snail ID - whelk?

Hello,

Saw a couple of these snails crawling around when the lights were out and I’m concerned they may be bad news. Any idea what these are and if I should be removing them? Thanks for any help!

Jane

Yes, that's Pollia fumosa, a true predatory whelk.
