African ritteri on live aquaria

So Thursday I bought the African ritteri on divers den. I saw the box was coming and it weighed 20lbs. so I'm thinking this will be huge. Well it's not very big, but it has the darkest red base I've ever seen and appears to be purple with green tips. Mouth all closed and looking good. I'm gonna post a pic of the foot to see if the red will really show. Gotta give props to live aquaria. Will be posting more as it acclimated. Wish me luck.

Curious how it looks opened up. Wouldn't have thought the base was red based on the DD pic. Good luck with it.

I was too quick to post on the other. It did pass. I just got the one from A C today. Looks same. Really nice colors. I got a blue gig from them some time ago that is now with another rc member and it’s still thriving.

I used to trust description of Diver Den's anemones, but not anymore. They really amp-up the coloration description of their anemones color.
What do you guys think of this:

They described their brown tentacles and column anemones as purple tentacle with purple column.
Example:

Maldivian Ritteri Anemone. This anemone has a tan oral disc and mouth. The tentacles of this anemone stick well and are purple with gold tips. The underside of the oral disc is purple, with a smooth purple column and purple/red pedal disc. This anemone prefers to attach to a flat surface, and is maintained under 250-Watt Aqualine Buschke HQI double ended metal halide bulbs that are suspended 18" above the water surface in a raceway that is 16" deep. This anemone is fully quarantined, and is feeding well on a mix of PE Mysis and finely chopped raw shrimp. The diameter of the pedal disc is 4-1/4" and the anemone is 10-1/4" in diameter when fully open.

What I don’t get about DD is why, when they have their pick of the best Mags coming in the country, they usually have very average looking ones on DD.

My mag looks similar to that. I'd call the body purple, not brown. The "golden" tips however are a bit of a stretch.

We cannot see the column here so can’t comment on that. However I would call this anemone have brown or tan tentacles with light yellow tips and brown or tan oral plate. That is the extended of what can be seen in this picture.

I was excited to see a DD ritteri and definitely was going to grab it till I saw the pic and the description. The pic didn’t look as impressive as the description so I passed. They are tough to get one into your tank healthy and I wasn’t going to risk it on the average looking ritteri. Maybe it looks better in person.

I typically describe those mags as mauve color because it really is a brownish purple -- depending on lighting it could be brown and possibly pass as purple (though I agree that this is a stretch). In most cases though, I would say these are brown with white tips.

They are fairly common, second only to the typical brown mags.

Is your Magnifica the same one in the picture I posted above (on sale a few days ago from Diver Den.) Good luck with her.

Call it mauve.

Those tips definitely look more yellow/gold. I like it.

Yes. It's the same one. She came in this morning. Her tips are definitely gold. Her tentacle color is not purple, but not tan either. More like D-Nak said... Mauvey purple. The underside is definitely NOT red at all. Not fuchia either, bright purple. She's my tight lipped little Maggie though.
