No real update here.
While I was gone I lost a couple fish. The hydor flo jammed and just blew current on the Kenya tree 24/7 and caused it to drop limbs everywhere. After a little bit of clean up everything's looking ok.
The goby is now front and center which is awesome! I love watching him and the shrimp.

Yeah, that's a real problem with those hydor flo units. A little bit of sand gets in there and it can jam up. Did you lose one of the firefish??

Fire fish and blenny
Yea the spin stream is better as a snail can't jam it up but they customer service sucks. The fittings for it split after a week and they wouldnt even send me new rubber fittings.

That's a bummer. Love the fungia!

You love the what lol?

Here is how I'm using the fp28 I ripped the plastic off that hold the suction cups. Then used the 90 as posted early. The only pros to this method was I can't here the pump at all and it drops the pump lower.

the fungia plate. Little green thing in the front corner there.

I might switch out the 08 for the 28 this way. I've just been using a koralia nano and the 08, but whenever I turn of the koralia, the water just stops moving. That little pump is worthless.

Yea the 08 isn't worth anything.
The lil plate coral fits perfect in there right now lol. I have one in my 30g cube that has grown to about 8 inches across. I wonder how big they get?

very nice tank! I just got my girlfriends son a 5 gallon standard tank to make a nano reef for his bedroom. I wish I would have seen this thread before hand and talked her into a nice tank like that! I'm about 2 weeks in now and water is testing good. I had a ton of old rock to choose from after I tore down my larger tank so the scape came out pretty good. Hoping to add a couple snails and crabs this weekend!

Anyways, just wanted to give you some props on that nice clean tank. I love everything about it!

Yea, I'm a new member here... I actually purchased the tank after seeing your thread. I was having extreme difficulty finding the perfect tank that still provided room for some creative modifications like the CL 8g.

So I thank you for having such an awesome tank that inspired me to get my own. I'll post some pictures of what I do with it in due time.

Finally got my MJ 900 as well as my hydor flo. The Flo sticks out a bit far for my preferences, but i noticed that since i can hook the 900 up directly, it puts out water faster than the overflow can take in, causing the tank to run over. I plan on taking it into work tomorrow and opening those up a bit as well as the pump output so that the rubber adapter fits snug inside it.

Also have one trochus as well as a tiny nassarius. Supposed to be getting a frag pack Thursday, so i'll have a bit more life in the tank.

I'll try to post some pics up as soon as i get the slits fixed.

Austinchap, appreciate the great mod tips. Two quick questions:

1. it looks like the clips you use for the lid are different than a lot of other photos. Theres no ugly plastic on the front corners. What are using to place the lid on.

2. Did you consider making the fuge in the first chamber? It looks like it set up a little unusual where the first chamber really just overflows instead for flowing through the bottom. Looks like there would be less flow in that chamber? Media for second chamber? I like the tip on cutting off the back paint. Thank you.

Yea I'm going to make the first chamber the fuge I thought about it a few days after the I did the initial build. I still haven't used the back as a fuge so I don't know if it's really needed. I just use some gfo in a sock with carbon and I have zero algae. I've also done like 3 water changes on this tank since I started it up and all my parameters are perfect. Cal: 420 Alk:8.9 mag:1340
Tank has been pretty much problem free for awhile. I just need to get more corals in there. I'm just not sure what I want to do with it.

Austin, what type of glue did you use to hold the black airline tubing to the edges of the filter back? Thanks for all the info btw. It looks like I'm placing my order for the 18g version minus the pump and lights as I will more than like run an AI nano and mj powerhead.

Awesome Tank! Any updates on this? I have the Nuvo 8 gallon with a fire fish. I am interested in adding the Yasha Goby/Shrimp pair and was wondering how yours were doing. Do you see them a lot, do they make a sandstorm?
