I've been debating running two of the Cobalt Aquatics MJ1200 Multi-Purpose Powerhead/Pump and replumbing it. I'd feel safer with 2 pumps anyway. Any thoughts?

Hey guys, wondering if you have had any experience with ORP? Mine is always seeming way high like in the high 400's almost 500 at times, but I have no idea what to do to lower it and or what it means or anything except that it has to do with Carbon Dioxide??? Thoughts? Also, do you think one mp10 is enough for a 40g nuvo or should I be running two? Thank for any insight.

I'm running only one MP10 seem to give some pretty good flow. I believe it all depends on coral? I'm running LPS so I believe one is fine.

I only run one mp10, but I also added the spin stream nozzles which help a little bit as well

IM 40 Fusion Lessons Learnt

Thought I would add few comments on things I learnt during my build that may help others

IM Ghost Skimmer: Its OK, thats all I can say. Much quieter after the mods with Silicon sheeting etc listed elsewhere. Still get a few microbubbles that I can't seem to get rid off. I now run the skimmer on a timer overnight. During the day the skimmer is off and hence the tank is very quiet and no Microbubbles. The Tunze skimmers will only fit in chambers 1 & 5 which means you can't run filter socks/floss which will allow detritus into the sump - not good so sticking with my nightime skimming schedule.

IM Hydrofill: Controller failed after 3 months, pump stupid noisy. Avoid, do the right thing and get the Tunze Osomolator. You will need to use the extra magnet to locate the float switch highrt as the water level rises to much with the return pump off.

Filter Socks/Custom Caddys: I have swapped from the Custom Caddys to the Filter Socks. Running SeaChem SeaGel in the Aqua Medic Small Media Reactor The filter socks although more hassle to clean than filter floss in the media caddys make the water way more clearer

Return Pump: Ehiem 2000, quieter and more powerful than the stock. Needs the front removing and reassembling underwater to fit in the sump, but wekk worth the hassle.

Reactor: Aqua Medic reactor small is half the price of the IM Desktop Reactor and exactly the same unit. The small reactor fits perfect (fix the mount to the baffles not the rear of the tank), the medium sticks out the top by 12cm and looks awful. Stick to the small and change the media more often

I got two smaller eheim adjustable compacts after my stock pump went out, and am very happy with 2. I can clean one at a time while the other keeps the tank in circulation. Just had to remove the split tubing and use single lines.

So I been running filter socks from day 1, only thing I'm running in my sump is the skimmer & chemo pure. Any other recommendations since I don't have media basket? Don't want to run media reactor

How are you cleaning your filter socks? I use Chemi/Blue and purfiltrum (Aquavitro) Some say you can use gfo in media bag as well.

Throw them in the washer for a couple cycles with hot water, the only thing i run is chemi pure. I'm starting to add more corals and I don't want to wait till everything gets out of whack!!

Ive tried using washing machine and they broke? Gentle cycle and all...

I really like the IM reactor... running aquavitro gfo works great... pricey, i feel it worth it..
Also custom caddy allows for some great flexibility with filter media..

I skipped on the media baskets to avoid the diatom build up in the sump, have 0 problems with that running the socks with poly fiber pads on top. I usually adjust the spin cycle to medium, haven't had any break yet, but I'm thinking about just trying some gfo in a media bag

Hi guys! I am still in process of reading from page 1 to the current posting here but I thought I will just start off and post here!

My brand new IM40 sitting on a modified cabinet that I have sitting around.

Pretty excited about getting it cycled and transferring the corals and livestock from my existing tank.

Planing to speed cycle this tank by using my existing Marine Pure Media, some live rocks, Bio Digest, partial existing water and other bacteria to dose.

Hope that I can speed cycle this in 3 days.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I had a quick cycle using AF bio S. Maybe try that

Mp10

I have one mp10 currently and am thinking about getting another one to face it... anyone have any experience with this. Just thinking it will be easier to get more flow to all parts of the tank. Please chime in, also wanting to get a goby/pistol shrimp combo and possibly a yellow wrasse.

Yay or Nay?

Have you looked into the SICCE ones? They are really nice and quiet too.

I have 2 smaller pumps that equal greater flow. Much better than the one pump
