I have a 6 bulb unit, but typically run only 4 bulbs. I ordered new bulbs and I'd to try all 6 bulbs going with 4 ati blub plus 1 purple plus and 1 coral plus.

Not the greatest pic since it's with my phone, but here's a pick of a pretty cool bowerbanki acan that I have. Looks just like a bleeding apple scolymia

I am starting an acan collection myself. I currently have a light blue/yellow jupiter acan and a red tomato acan in a nano. The LEDs seem to be doing the job for them but based on experience, what is the best lighting for acans? I ordered a Ultra Rainbow Acan from Live Aquaria but that died during shipment. My local LFS generally has some good ones though.

I took a FTS w/ my cell yesterday so it's a pretty lame one. All my acans are usually on the sand, but I took them out for cleaning. When I first setup my tank, I had envisioned my tank to look like this, no corals or only a couple on the sand. Now it's full of acans. LOL

Very nice acan collection and rock layout. I love the simplicty. I am surprise you can keep all those SPS with just T5s. Do you have any fish?

Yes, I used both glue and epoxy. It's actually 2 seperate bases, it's just the top part is so close together that it looks like all one. My initial vision was to have two islands so to speak, but as my coral collection grew, I had to re-do the left side to make it larger to hold all the sps. Man honestly the best place is either your LFS or keep your eyes peeled daily in the selling section. Hobbyist sell nice stuff all the time due to space constraints, or they need money to buy other stuff, or they get out the hobby, or change directions of their tanks. I've purchased a lot of nice coral from fellow reefers. Quote:

I do have a couple of fish, a helfrichi and a ventralis anthia. Once I get my upgrade in action, I plan to get more fish. I'm hoping to get my hands on a candy basslet. That would be awesome. hahaa yah man acans are so addicting. you got a nice one there.

Very nice collection. I have a few questions if you don't mind.
Do they need to be treat for pest before you put them in the main display tank. I also treat my sps for AEFW red bugs ETC. and if so what do you treat them with? I see you keep them close to each other do you see them competing for space? Thanks

I'm blown away. I'm really wanting to get into Acans. Can you tell us, All Delight, what are you water parameters? I've read every post in this thread but didn't see it.
And you say you only feed your favorites. I assume you mean target feed. What food do you use in the tank for overall feeding purposes? Is that a silversides in the one's mouth toward the beginning of this thread? |
