help me find a pump!!!
I've got a need for a return pump for a total system volume of 280 gallons at 6' of head pressure. it needs to be internal. any help would be appreciated! this means that the pump has to put out 2800 gph at 6' if I want to achieve 10x turn over. (triton method)

Try a Jebao DCT15000. Good DC pump. I have the 12000 for 2 90's. So far love it.

Get a Laguna or Fluval that has your flow requirements. They will last a decade or two and are low wattage draw for actually doing a lot of work - confirmed, not just stated on a box out of china.

I love my fluval sp6. Its reliable, powerful & as quiet as u will find for a a/c pump. I know I wouldn't trade it for anything even close to its price range.

The pump comes out of the cage but will need a base plate to stand upright. Basically a Fluval pump but with different bearings.

https://royalexclusiv.net/en/flow-de...me-bypass.html And the ATB Flowstars which again, uses a special base that goes between the volute and motor as well as a special machined volute and modified impeller. Keep in mind that neither of the two mentioned pumps are anything like their Laguna Maxflo counterparts other than using a block that is "based" on that of the Laguna. https://www.reefspecialty.com/atb-fl...4200-pump.html The Fluval SP6 uses the same block but it has a cover over the block that includes a base as well. Your better choice would be a Fluval SP6.

You may infact be able to use the Fluval SP series base on that motor. Only issue is that it may need to be screwed into place though a bit of epoxy would certainly hold it. Even so, I would still go with the Fluval as it has a ceramic bearing that is better suited for salt water use. There are some other minor differences between the Laguna version and the Fluval as well.
Here is the SP series base. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K7IXRFU...7IXRFU5183319/

I just lay my Lagunas down. I have Fluvals as well, but they don't come in as many sizes and the SP6 is not as powerful as the larger Laguna pumps. They are both long lasting and super quiet.
I just went to the equipment room and a Fluval SP4 base fit perfectly on a 960 GPH Laguna. ...no idea if this applies to other pumps, but it might. |

Does it HAVE to be internal. Iwaki's are great pressure pumps. If you have a big enough sump 50% of tank volume and an oversized skimmer, than have a lower flow from the sump.
It isn't that complicated. Only what you make it. Simple always works.

This is the base that I used, not the one that comes on the Red Dragon:
