macro question

i just added a specimen container w/ holes to hang on tank in main display. i obviously did not have a fuge before. i would but i have NO room under stand. i'm using this small container/fuge, w/ what i believe is grape calerpa, to help ged rid of the little hair and bubble algae i have. it's not a permanant fixture, just for next few months maybe. my tank lights are on as follows: MH 6 hrs/day and VHO's 13 hrs/day. the in tank fuge is in mod light. not right under hood but still lit. will it be ok here w/ this lighting schedule. there's no powerhead in this aprox 8X5 container, just holes drilled in box, is this sufficient?

I would say that if it is getting flow pushed onto it then yes it should work. Jus tmake sure you have some whater movment rhough it.

also I hate to burst your 'bubble'. But bubble algae requires almost no nutrients, and the calurpa/cheato will starve before you starve the bubble algae.

not worthless, there are many benifits. But removal of bubble algae is NOT one of them.

It shouldnt be too hard to remove the bubble algae manually. From what I understand, you want to pop it off the rock without breaking the skin. Emerald crabs should get rid of the small ones. A lawnmower blenny can take care of the hair algae, hence the name. Snails will help too. The fuge will slow down algae growth.

i find it very hard to pick without popping. i try and pluck off and syphon but alot pop and alot float away. i've tried emeralds but they did nothing. i'm thinking about trying again. i have a LM blenny. BA sucks. i'm on top of my WC and my parameters are all good and stable. PO4 barely detectable. i think instead of doing weekly 12% WC i'm going to up them to 25% a week. i guess it may help alittle w/ the BA. also i started ZEO a month ago.

If you let them get too big they pop easy, ive seen a hermit pop a big one, then its too late you caused an explosion of the blasted things. get em small they are much tougher to prize off, they will grow under rocks also by the way.
