Artificial Anemones Viable?
So, I have an aquarium that I'm looking to populate with clownfish. It's all set up with live rock, snails and all; I just haven't gotten to the whole "fish" part yet.
I was wondering if it would be ok to use a fake anemone for the clownfish that I'll be getting, and maybe some pointers to some reliable sources for them. Advice for keeping clownfish in general would also be appreciated. |

Ceramic flowerpots work perfectly as anemone surrogates. For some reasons anemonefish really like them.

I think structures and texture of the anemone is important. I don't think anemone would go for the silicone fake anemones. Please take this with large gain of salt. I have never have a fake anemone in any of my tanks. As ThRoewer suggested, a small ceramic flower pot works well to keep clownfish comfortable and breeding, but certainly does not look natural.

It’s still in my tank. I got mine from petco. They are available online too. The flowerpot can serve as a breeding home for clownfish but mine never been hosted in it. They really prefer “anemone-like” structures. My long tentacle anemone is living in a flowerpot. Never moved since I put it there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
