mocha clown?

My LFS had a few of these the other day, i think it was like 2 for 100$.

Anyone got any in their tank?

Is a 12g Nano suitable for 2?

Mocha Clowns

Yes a pair could go in a 12 gal tank, if they are the only fish and you keep up with WC. I have the same tank and have two B/W clowns in the 12 gal nano with a brain coral and a couple of snails and hermit crabs, I can still add more LPS or soft corals but I am maxed out on fish.

Ocellaris x percula most likely, aka chocolate clowns. Creativity is just killing me

Ive never seen an occy x perc hybrid that looked different than there parents. I would have a hard time telling they are even hybrids if it was not for the sticker on the tank.

emu, those pics look like juvenile black and whites. I've seen them that color before, and when they 'grow up' they darken.

I could be wrong though. (Happens.. lol)

here you guys go!

The same company also breeds a white percula similar to the ORA platinums. Here's a picture.

And a picture of the platinums for comparison.

and a few more of the mochas!

PS: these guys are definitely not just juvi blacks.

those are black and whites. maybe mochas are the cross between a black/white ocell and a orange/white ocell = brown?

no they are not. They are mochas. And yes, it's a cross between a black and a normal ocell, as rubbagagow mentioned.

LOL, this cracks me up. we just had a huge discussion/argument about these and "maine blizzard clowns" on another site. if you search "maine blizzard clownfish" in google click on the first link that comes up to see the posts. its seems this guy soren who is in maine is breeding clowns. the name "mocha" and "maine blizzard clowns" also came up in this conversation. it finally just stopped because nobody could get a straight answer out of the guy, he had no facts that these NEW blizzards were actually this guy sorens own work or whether he was just coming up with a new name for clowns that already had been named. I am in no way saying this guy soren didn't come up with his own "white" clown through breeding but we could never get a straight answer...... google search "maine blizzard clown" its a pretty funny thread!

Those of you that have the "mocha" clowns, can you tell me how old are the ones you have/have seen? And what color brown (light brown, almost black, etc.) are they? I have been raising the fry of my black ocellaris x orange ocellaris for the past few months, and I was wondering if they were going to be black, orange, some of each, or a brown or rusty color. They aren't mature enough yet for me to tell how they'll turn out and I'm really curious. I'm also curious about the genetics - which genes are dominant, which are recessive, etc. Does anyone know where I can get more info on the genetics?

For some reason I seem to like these more than the Platinums. I don't like the black and whites neither. I guess I'll settle for in between. lolz

I've got a clown thats 1/2 Snowflake Oci and 1/2 Darwin Oci being called a S'more. It's got alot of black in it but it's no where near as dark as the clowns you've got.
