Do you guys see the tubastrea / sun coral in the guy's tank?! He's got BOULDERS full of the stuff, just like the occur in the wild! This is mind - blowing stuff...

My website is dead, but the support trick works a little different. I use the rods to make reef piles, he connects the rods to the walls just to 'hang' the rocks on them. This way, it is really easy to build high structures without the need for large ammounts of rock. Apart from that, the structure is stable.

Because you don't need to fight gravity anymore, you can build interesting structures relatively easy.

Abour the sun corals: indeed there are boulders with it. A small importer here in Holland can get these easily on demand...

Wow!!! This must be a natural coral reef of Australia or Asia, it just canÃ‚Â´t be possible to have a tank like what I just saw.

This must be a dream, that I hope never finishes!!!
I think I know whre IÃ‚Â´m going for vacations.

Just viewed Pieter's tank, need to buy new boxer shorts now. I will have to look through the dictionary to find a word to describe this tank. Congrats on Tank of the month. This is truly an amazing tank.

He siphons out the sand and replaces it. Sometimes, the sand is only rinsed, but most often it is replaced. Of course a hose with quite a big diameter is used for this task.

Ok, the tank is great and all but what kind of income does a person need to maintain a tank like that? Sure if I was making 1Mill a year I could build something similar. I sure would love to be able to come home and stare at that thing everyday not to mention totally impress people that drop by...."oh did I mention I have pet fish"

Just an Amazing Amazing tank

I've seen pics several times in threads here and there on RC(mainly in the sps forum) but it's very nice and informative to see the full "layout" with descriptions and equipment etc....
I've long admired and been inspired by tanks from your part of the world and this is definately one of the best

My step father is stationed in Scheidam and my sister has been able to travel to Holland several times since he has been there. I ask her every time she goes to check out the aquarium shops but reefing seems to escape the rest of the family

With this tank it's not about the money, ofcourse it costs a fortune, but it's about the passion for this hobby. 2 years ago when I spoke to Pieter for the first I had very little time, but he wouldn't let me go, he just kept on talking and talking!

This tank is really pushing the boundaries for the sheer goal of taking it to the next stage of our great hobby!

How do you think he feed that suncoral he has in that tank, he runs a phytoplankton reactor do you think the coral feeds off of that. I ask because i haave one that is 1/10 the size and it requires so much time to feed and was wonderig if you had a tank that big the amount of time to care for that would be a full time job, if anyone has tubestra suncoral let me know how the easiest way to feed them. Plus i cant search this site for suncorals threads.
