I use the diffuser on an open top tank but do not use them in a canopied tank.
I personally think they sap more light then they say but cannot do without them on an open top tank because the HEI domed optical lens are blinding to the naked eye if your at eye level like sitting on a couch.

Im still rocking my G2 Pros, but have decided to buy 4 new Radion G4 Pros for my red sea reefer 750. Dont think I would need the diffuser like the look of the included lens and with 4 over my reef I will have more than enoug control over my Radions.

PS, I am still with T5s in my DR tank and trying Radions on my frag tank with AB+
Hi, I use the new Mitra LX 7206 lights on my tank, and my sister has the Radion XR 30 gen 4's on her system, and after a lot of research and visually seeing both the Radion and Mitra's in person, I decided to go with the Mitra's mainly due to the fact I like the way the Mitra's spread is compared to the Radions. The Mitra's use a parabolic reflector in their system instead of light diffusers, which eliminates the disco ball effect that a lot of aquarist dislike, and the parabolic reflector also helps to eliminate a lot of the shadowing you get with other LED lights.

I'm sporting the gen4 Pros and I have to say, they are sporty. I love the colors and shimmer they produce, I'm hoping to try the diffuser to see if that improves the shimmer even more. Co.ing from MH's in the beginnings, I am over all impressed.

The diffusers will actually decrease the "shimmer" effect.

I love the Mitras, the spread and colors are fantastic, so far the lights and aquarium are doing great. Just like with any other LED light you need to program the color spectrum you want along with the right intensity, as the lights are very strong.

I have 1 xr15 g3 pro and an xr15 g4 pro over my 36"x 18"x 18", it does seem that the spread is a bit better with the g4, however I do feel like they both produce "hot spots" and am interested in getting diffuses at some point. That said the lights are growing all the corals just fine.

Tank looks good.

What are you running your lights at?

I run my XR154 Pro 11 hours total a day (only 4 hours being maximum)

But I run all blues and UV @ 100% and my whites @ 8% and R/G @ 5% with 90% max power

Coral lab AB+ setting (with a 1.5 hour ramp on either side) both lights on RMS mounts; total photo period is 10 hours.
