Help with Ozone

Hi I am thinking about purchasing one of your Ozone units.

My question is what other equipment do I need to get it running safely and efficiently?

Thank you

a_z,

Our instruction manual gives a pretty complete overview of the setup: http://www.avastmarine.com/literatur...anual_v1.0.pdf

Please feel free to ask anything else if you have further questions.

Dan,
What sort of feed pump is required to run one of your Mutiny Reactors?

Would a maxijet 1200 work, or is something more substantial required for a Mutiny 2?

I'm considering using ozone on my gallon system, and due to space issues, cannot use it through my skimmer. I purchased a You Built Kalk reactor kit from you guys a few months ago and was very pleased with it, (still am ), and wouldnt hesitate to buy more from you guys....I just need to know what all I'm looking at for set up, and your instruction manual isnt clear about the pump needed, (IE back pressure rated, gph needed etc....)

Thanks,

Nick

On their website they list some recommended pumps and specific equipment. I tried the mutiny reactor with a Maxi-jet 1200 and I think it is definitely too weak. It looks like it might work but in the end I think it causes problems. You want either a mag5 or mag7 or equivalent. I've contemplated hooking mine up to my systems drain (with a second back up drain) to see if that pressure would be enough to drive it but I haven't tried it yet.

Head pressure is important not only for the Venturi to work properly, but to maintain usable pressure within the reaction chamber itself.

I started out with an older Eheim 1250 I had sitting on the shelf. Age may have had something to do with it, but I've been much happier with my Mutiny I since switching over to the recommended MAG3.

Ah..okay. Re-read the PDF manual linked above and found the part where it clearly states what pumps to use for each size reactor.

No idea how I missed that before....
