Use Extreme Caution

Use extreme caution when rotating your radios above the tank. While doing so the swivel broke loose from the X bracket and the light fell into the tank.
After drying out, the light comes on for a brief second or two and shuts off. The fan however stays running. The fuse looks good.

Took light apart and used a heat gun to dry thoroughly and all is well.

As expected the light started acting up again shutting off and on. Sent it in to Ecotech and they confirmed it was water damaged. Rep said he could try to fix it but would rather replace the light and bracket for the cost of shipping.........$17.00.

I have learned, more error than trial, to put a sheet of lexan over my tank when manipulating lights. Too easy to drop a fixture, or a screw, into the tank.

Yeah I was thinking maybe a piece of plywood with a towel or something over it but lexan sounds like a good alternative.

I use a 30" x 24" piece of white melamine when I work on my lights to prevent lost screws, tools, etc.
