I noticed in my par tests that as I got farther down into the tank, par INCREASED as I got towards the glass.

Either that or spectrum differences than the prior lights (as one would expect). Just struck me as curious - neither good nor bad just different.

I just can't get enough of these g4 pros! They are so superior to the Hydra 52 HD in every way...

I have 3x XR15 pros over my 36x24x24 sps tank two gen 3 (WA lens) on the ends and a g4 in the middle. the two g3's were no enough imo but with the G4 in the middle there is much better coverage. The g3 are at 100% and the G4 at 70% both running SPSAB+ The tank is 2 months old so early days but things are encouraging atm with encrusting and vertical growth.
The GREAT thing about the XR15s is that the fans are off at night and very quiet when on, with one fan per puck.

I'm seriously thinking a about upgrading from gen1 to gen4. The gen1's still work wonderfully, and they are still growing corals with no problem. Compared to the gen1, do the new lenses on the gen4 reduce shadowing? Also, could I expect the gen4's to provide a shimmer that would more closely resemble metal halide than the gen1 fixtures?
I'm after reducing shadows, the metal halide type of shimmer, and a broader spectrum than my gen1 offers. I would love to stick with Radions as my experience with ecotech has been top notch products and customer service. However, I'm also considering kessil's solely for the shimmer or possible even getting a t5/mh fixture. Would the gen4's get me close to what I'm after? I know a mh/t5 fixture would be what I really need, but there are obvious drawbacks and I'd rather stick with a radion if it gets me close enough. Also, the light is suspended over a rimless tank, so looks matter and I don't want to to a kessil's/t5 or ecotech/t5 retrofit as I feel that it would look clunky suspended in open air above my tank. |

IMO the new HEI lenses seem to blend the different color LEDs and provide an overall better spread then the Gen1 but all LEDs produce shadowing, some more then others.

I'm running a pair of regular G4's over my 120 (48x30x20 LWH). For SPS, what intensity are you guys running. Right now I'm using a modifed AB program (added a bit more white) and running at 37% total intensity. That seems low to me but I've heard that much higher and I'll burn out my corals.

I have led's on my 180. The leds are goin out. The 180 is 72x24x24. I would need to get 3 fixtures as the 180 has 2 cross members dividing the tank into 3 sections. anyone have info on which fixtures, the 15 or 30, to go with? TIA
