Painting back and side
Has anyone painted the back and one side of their aquarium? Can I see?
I want to put my 125 gallon here. The left side of the stand will be in front of the outlet. The other side won’t be right up against the bookcase, but close enough it won’t be viewed often so I was thinking of painting the back and that side black to camouflage my powerheads and overflow. The tank is currently sitting in my front yard so I can paint it out there if it ever stops raining. I have some nice spray paint rubber stuff that works really well on the moonroof of my husband’s car and peels off with a razor blade.

Use a spraycan and NOT a roller and NOT a brush bc paint rollers & brushes leave a bubbly streaky texture.
Cool thing about painting glass is if you HATE it...in 3mins you can razor blade it off completely with 0 staining |

Actually, I used cling-on window tint, it looked great and was super easy to put on. If you ever decide you don’t like it, just pull it off. Found it at Menards, wasn’t very expensive at all.

I'm using colored cardboard from Michaels. It comes in blue or black and only $2. Going on 2 years with it.

I did, using a roller.
There are some pictures in this link of my original build. https://imgur.com/gallery/yKNPd It does have a granulated sort of texture, but you can't really notice. I only painted one side halfway to cover the overflow and help prevent algae growth, and I painted the entire back. I've had no scraping or issues, but its not like I'm back there often. |

I have done both film and paint. I find both work well.
Spray paint still looks great after 3 years. Properly applied film look good too, and was easy to remove. Once I filled the tanks, I really never either a second look.

Plasti Dip works great. Durable, yet easy to remove.

I rolled on cheap acrylic from Walmart. It looks great. I have zero pictures and based on where it's sitting, I can't get any. I have no bubbles. I used a roller from the dollar tree.

^^^This^^^ I use latex enamel from HD and a foam roller. A couple coats will do it just fine.

I used Rustoleum. I am sure any quality would be fine. Most 'cheap' should be OK too.
This is the back of a tank, not your front door.
