Tree leather not opening
About two weeks ago, I noticed my leather tree coral wasn't opening. For a little while I didn't worry about it, but recently I noticed that there seems to be some kind of shiny coating over its closed-up top, and its trunk has gotten a little bit brown. I'm 100% sure that's no bueno, and I have no idea what the problem is -- I've never seen anything like it. Can anyone help me?

The shininess your seeing is probably an indication that the coral is getting ready to shed. They'll do this from time to time. As far as that brown stuff on the stalk goes are you sure it's not algae growth of some sort? The link below might help.

Oh, that's very helpful! There's a photo in that article that looks almost exactly like what I'm seeing. Thank you so much!

Yep.. Totally normal.. Leathers do it quite often..
Just shedding a layer of skin/cleaning algae,etc... off its skin.. Putting it in an area of higher flow can reduce the frequency of that.. but its just fine..
