I ordered one from LA during the sale. First one was DOA. UPS had weather delay in Kentucky so it arrived after 36 hours. It was very unfortunate, nice color and size too. The replacement came today, there was slight delay in dispatcher and came in around 20 hours. It is bigger than the first one, I sad about 3.5 inch. I did quick acclimation and now he is in QT. I will monitor him closely and will start treatment once he start eating actively. I haven't tried to feed him yet. I want him to settle down first. He is the only fish in the QT.

I was really tempted to order on this last sale from LA but decided to hold off on it since I am not absolutely ready for them. Maybe in a few months. Good luck with your's. Post pictures. First fish in my reboot will be Regal angels and tangs

Got a Red Sea from LA,ups screwed up shipping got him a day late after he toured the country, was afraid to open the box,he must of been so happy to get out of there after two days that he ate brine and mysis in the first hour,I was so amazed after reading so much about them, pictures don’t do them Justice

Mine came a day late due to ups as well. Probably time to stop ordering fish until after Christmas. Seems ok but not quite a hundred percent. Just slightly off. It picks at clam and mysis a bit so far. I have it in a 40 breeder as a QT loaded up with macro algae. Haven’t noticed it picking at the rocks really so far yet. Did a formalin bath on arrival and I’m just going to let it settle in for a while before doing anything else. Looks pretty fat still for a new import regal.

To provide another, even better update, he continues to devour algae on the rear glass. I found some Hikari 'Clams on a Half Shell' from an LFS and purchased them, he quite enjoyed them and ate a decent amount of one, before returning to his algae and then occasionally coming back for more.

That’s great uncle salt!
Mine is doing well,he went to the dt due to the fact of it being a regal I hoped to get him to eat in a better environment first,he’s doing good shows no signs of disease or parasites, figured if I could get him to eat first then go fallow if needed as long as he was eating the biggest hurdle was gone through I also had sponges that were on the rock too,he’s now competing with a majestic and whitetail bristletooth, almost too good to be true

Mine started to eating mysis shrimp. However, He does not eat aggressively. He will eat couple pieces then stops. He seems interested, but does not eat more than 2~3. I usually QT for 6~8 weeks. Once he is out of QT, I will place him in my 80g reef until he is further established. Then He will be going to my 11 years old FOWLR. I am little concerned placing him directly into my 310g because I do have some well established large angels there.

My regal is still eating mysis shrimp, but not aggressively. How long does it normally take to eat well?

All my Regal prefer dry food over frozen after they get acclimated to captive condition. I would mix dry and frozen together and feed these. Adjust the mixture as you see what they like.

When I first got mine they would only eat very small amounts of food at each feeding. It took a week or two for them to started being able to consume larger amounts of food. I still find the Regal Angels to be the slowest feeders in my tank though.

Seeing everyone’s post has me wanting to try again. This time it will be in its own tank to monitor to ensure it’s aggressively eating.

What I did was remove all fish from dt willing to go fallow if needed so he was alone to try and get him eating first so he was in the most natural environment,it’s a risk that seams to have paid off because he swims happily with my majestic angel

I have posted this on the disease forum, but my regal angel's dorsal fin does not look right. Can you guys tell what this is? He is in QT by himself. I am not sure if he came this way or it just started doing this.

I’m horrible at diseases or sicknesses,My opinion is environmental weather before you got him or now, make sure nitrate/ammonia is good, the poisoning from that does wierd things

I am not sure what it is. It does not looks like fin rot to me. I am trying to figure out if this is some kind of disease that I need to treat or external damage prior to shipping that will recover over time.

Mine is looking identical but maybe a bit worse. Hopefully someone knows what to try. I was planning on kanaplex

Would you guys recommend getting one from saltwaterfish.com? It's yellow belly and comes with a 15 day guarantee. Or get a true red sea regal from new york aquatic with only a guarantee of it arriving alive (and supposedly all regals are eating before he will sell them)?

Just to update again! I came home with some LRS food and a Sponge. He is happily nipping at the sponge and the first time I put LRS in, he went nuts eating everything he could. Wouldn't grab anything from the water column yet, but was all over the bigger hunks that landed on the bottom. Something he grabbed he was even swimming around with!

Always go with the longer guarantee with these.
