Another day, another update. Put another coat of stain on my wood for the light pendent, and went to HD to pick up the panelling that will form the basis of my stand skin, and had it cut to size. Was going to prime it but then my son woke up with a fever shortly after having gone to bed. That ended tank progress.

On my local board, a member suggested an old pulley would look great with the light fixture on the beam, and after thinking about it, I went ahead and purchased this old fishing boat pulley off ebay, which I'll attach to the light beam and suspend the pendant from with sisal rope:

Thanks, no I don't think I'll need a chiller. The tank will have lots of exposed air above it given the rimless design with the pendant. The tank is also in my basement, which is the coolest area of the house. So I don't anticipate requiring a chiller.

Some progress to report. Tank is in place and has been filled with RO/DI, first plumbing test failed, second was a pass.

Happy with how the pendant turned out. I need to trim up the rope a bit, and finish with rope the cords, but it came out nice I think.

The tank still needs to be trimmed in a few spots, but it is operational! Also needs to be cleaned.

The stand and trim was a lot of work.

For the trim, I used knotty pine from Lowe's. Then I filed the corners down, took drywall screws to the surface to duplicate worm holes, and hammer with the corner of a file to make it look aged. Then sanded. Then it got two coats of stain, and two coats of varathane.

The wainscotting was painted with two coats of Benny Moore semi-gloss trim paint (had it already), then the corners/edges were sanded to distress it, then it was glazed with a mix of Ralph Lauren glaze, brown house paint, and water, and wiped, to give it the look it has. Then it too got a coat of varathane.

One of the 7 magnets that holds the access paneling in place (strike plate still needs to be added):

Some plumbing and sump shots. Its running as a bean animal right now, currently though the secondary drain is pulling two much water and isn't silent, so it needs some tweaking.

Looking good Jordan, getting to where the finish line is in view. Can't wait to see it all stocked up. Do you have to do a full cycle or have you kept rock and stuff going in a bin somewhere?

Thanks for the positive comments! I jumped the gun on my plumbing success, turns out a I had a drip in one of the fittings, I over tightened it, and of course went too far and cracked the bulkhead

Now have to wait until a new one and a few spares come in, but there are a few other things I can work on in the meantime, if work doesn't continue to get in the way, really want this thing cycling sooner rather than later.

No I have no rock. I got rid of all of it prior to move. So starting from scratch.

are you going to be hiding any of the overflow plumbing. I was getting the idea that the rear section where the lighting bars and overflow area will become an eye sore when looking at the tank from the side. any plans of hiding that area?

New build looks fantastic and Im sure you'll have great success. cough cough go back to the 120! we all know in a 120 there will be more room for coral, therefore more pictures for us!
