I'm sure its normal but someone help me relax please!

Today I brought home a small Lubbocks Wrasse..he's been pretty much tucked back in my rockwork since I got him in. He looks normal, he ate mysis, and did swim out in front once or twice but that was it. He is okay right? Just a bit spooked I'm assuming?

I've had a mystery wrasse in QT for a little over a week now and he spends most of his time hiding. He comes out for food and swims around a little.

If you were dropped into a new country one day with no warning, you'd be shy too LOL.
Give it time to adjust & determine its safety.

yup, this applies to pretty much every fish. some fish take longer than others to settle in.

I have a female Lubbocks wrasse for about 4 months. Last week I picked up a male and 2 more female Lubboks.

For a few hours they were all swimming together. But After the initial couple of hours all the new Lubbocks dissappeared.

Over the past week I caught an occasional glimpse in the rock work.

The original female is out all the time.

Then last night I found a male and a female tucked into a small cave of rockwork, which they are sharing with a Golden Angel. When I say small it's smaller than a double sized shot glass. But last night during feeding they came out and ate.

Just give it time to get adjusted.

Update: day 3 with Lubbocks

My awesome Lubbock's has come out for every feeding, but spends the least amount of time possible swimming, and then heads right back down into one of my caves, where he justs sits in the sand hanging out.. I wish I could watch this beautiful fish swim but he's still really shy

Funny, I just came home and two of my new lubbocks are out and swimming together. -

Last night I saw my old female chasing one of the new females on the opposite side of the tank.

I'm going to stay away from the tank for a bit and let them swim a little.

My gramma did that for about a week, I literally could not find it for about 2 days until a friend pointed her out to me.. so shy!

I'm just waiting to walk into my room and find it swimming...its just laying on the sand in the cave...but comes out as soon as mysis hits the water, and eats like a champ.

My coris was shy for a few weeks, would hide if he saw you around the tank. You had to be very still if you wanted to watch him. He's still a nervous nelly and will jump if you make sudden moves in or close to the tank. Sometimes he hits the lights for no reason, scares himself & goes to bed in the sand LOL.

He HAS been swimming out in front a bit more with each day, and hasn't skipped a meal yet so I really have nothing to worry about lol.

When I got home from work today he was literally laying in the sand on his side, so I did get a bit nervous for a couple seconds.

My lights just came on at 4pm PST. And 3 of the Lubbocks are out and swimming together today... Each day just a little bit of progress.

Mine has been very very active today. Best day thus far...still has his little nook in the back he hides in, but very lively swimming today! I'm much happier. What a gorgeous fish. My next tank is going to be a 150-180, and I'm already putting a pair of Lubbocks on my stocking list for that tank. So pretty

The more comfortable they become, the more you will see them. Proper aquascaping with plenty of hiding places will eventually build the fishes' confidence and you will see it way more often.

Just be patient -- and good luck!

He was out a lot today. Still swimming more and more each day. It's definitely 10x better now! And he's eating mysis, formula two flake, and formula one pellet, and getting along great with the clown and cardinal!
