I had one a couple years ago that was 16". He was like a puppy. Once they get to know you they become very outgoing and friendly.

answer to your problem and you wont feel bad

buy a huge tank..lol buying a bigger tank is always the answer then you can buy more fish to fill the tank and buy another tank so they are not croweded ..repeat above steps until your tank is the size of tha pacific ocean..lol

A friend of mine had one many years ago. It was about 15" then. It was also like a puppy, it would follow him around the tank. If he would put his hand in the tank the grouper would swim into it and let him lift it out of the water. Very cool fish.
