Yep. Had a 'reef safe' Crosshatch devour my Chromis once. Right in front of me. That was several years ago. Haven't kept a trigger of any kind since.

A while back, I had purchased 3 carberri anthias from a local fish store. These were the most beautiful, fully quarantined and healthy specimens I had ever seen. They were also kind of expensive.

I was so excited to drop them into my tank. Upon the drop-in, my big Hawaiian black trigger quickly swims over and takes 2 or 3 huge mouthfulls out of one of them. I could not believe what I was seeing. I never saw that anthias again.

It's sad and I was ****ed, but all I could do was stand there and laugh.

Once a day/once every other day is not sufficient to keep a trigger happy in the long run. Personally, I would feed 2x - 3x a day with frozen food.
Underfeeding will lead to aggression and eating tank mates.

I would think a fish that is big enough to eat a clown fish need to be fed more than once a day.

Even a small trigger needs to eat more than once a day.

Well max adult size is 12". And this value is for the largest individual ever recorded. So average adult size is probably around 8" to 10". 6" is no way a small fish, that is probably a young adult.
