Fish tank white LED ratio
I am building a DIY LED unit for my new 100g mixed fish and coral tank. Won't be holding many sps but may get some easy ones.
Tank is 1600x490x610mm LxDxH. My almost final list is as follows... 24x white 48x blue (royal and actinic) 8x UV 8x indigo/violet 4x red My question is in your opinions and experience, what colour temperatures in what ratio would give me the best spread? I have the choice of... Super cool white 20000k Cool white 6500-7500k Daylight white 5500-6500k Warm white 2900-3200k I was thinking 12x ice, 6x cool and either 6x daylight or warm. Thanks. Whites are mainly for your "enjoyment"..
BTW: some minor tweaking or clarifications.. As to red are you referring to normal red or deep red (660nm) as to blue are you adding any 480nm blue? you should add a little cyan.. Main range is from 400-500nm ("UV/violet to blue green) Actinic blue and royal blue are about the same AFAICT.. Are you going to run different whites on different channels so you can "tweak" the look? |

Hi Oreo. I have one channel dedicated to one sort of white and another one dedicated to the other one or two, depending on what's best. The reds I have a choice of 620-630 or 640-660. The royal blue are showing as 440-450 and blue (what I called actinic) is 460-470. The next one up they do is turquoise 500-510. What you think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

From a charting perspective (fun to play with)

that said there are too many real and personal variables to consider.. some like a whiter reef, some deep blue, few windex.. Plug your numbers and/or the ones above into the calculator.. http://spectra.1023world.net/ |

You've lost me a little bit. Is that a calculator on working out what colour spectrum is best? Where do you get the 92 out of 100 from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

One shows photosynthetic and flourescent bands (little triangle) Calc gives you a numerical score on how well the spectrum hits these peaks.. another will show the overall tone you achieve.. fun stuff.. |
