Question COR 20 Hard Plumbing Noise

I'm in the process of upgrading my 80 to a 120, and I plan on using the COR 20 for a return pump. Currently I'm working on the plumbing design, so I would like to hear from those of you who are running a COR 20 and have it hard plumped.

How is the noise?

Any vibration transferred to the plumbing?

Now I know I could use a piece of flex between the pump and the return line, but I want that to be the last resort.

Thanks for any feed back you can provide.

I just plumbed my 20.
You can hardly tell it's on. Especially replacing a power-hungry Iwaki.
No vibrations that I can tell. Mine is external.
One thing to keep in mind- the plastic slip connectors are quite short. I used flex PVC and it leaked and then came apart easily by hand. I had to redo it with lots of PVC cement. One would probably not have the same issue with hard PVC.
Also, make sure you use a lot of tape or paste for the threaded connections. They leak easily (not necessarily a problem unique to COr).

I had both of these problems with my Vectra. Flex PVC not recommended with shallow shoulder fittings (thus no DWV); these pumps aren't NPT so if you do try to use NPT fittings they are loose.

I only used the supplied connectors. They are BSPP.

My COR 20 is way quieter than my old sicce 5.0 (Hard Plumbed. Not to mention the soft start makes post feed start ups a fraction of the noise.
My 3 MP40's make more noise than the COR 20.
skimmer is the loudest part of the system. (Reef Octopus SRO 2000 )
