Concerning the Clams Clown issue I would say get the clams away from his Anemone. He could be thinking it's a threat to his anemone as it's a bit close...
If he continues to follow and attack the clam like this definitly take him out. Those are two very nice clams you got there. If the second one is far and still getting attacked then your clown must have an apetite for clams and I would definitly chose a clam over a clown. Congrats on the camera buy. the 70-300 I'm not really familiar with but I would say is not the ideal range for tank shots. what is the other lense in the pictures? is that the 18-50 Nikon? could be a bit better than the 70-300 as it would focus a bit closer which will allow you to rest the camera on the glass when not on tripod... On great and cheap lense I found is the Tamron 17-50 2.8 it is faster than other lense as it's a fixed 2.8 and reasonably good quality even wide open and still costs only 3-400 Usd. most of my shots are taken with it. What tripod is that? make sure it's good quality and stable enough to support your camera with the big lense wide open. Seddalback really damaged the calm.... . .. The Exhalant aperture it’s been totally eaten and damaged. Mantles are damaged and eaten. Hope it will recover, but the beauty of Mantles are gone. I took the clown out before it kill or completely damage my all clams. Thanks for appreciation. The 70-300 is not for tank shots, it is for out door use. The other one in the picture is Nikon DX (AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR). Yes of course I will buy the lens what you recommended previously, I think it was Tamron 15-50 2.8 or maybe I will buy (Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens) I don’t know exactly about tripod. I just like and bought it. For exact specification, I have to go through user’s manual, which I did not open until now. It looks strong enough. Of course I need long classes from you to learn how to take good quality shots.

If you are going to put styrofoam under your tank do not use the white stuff. Use the blue/pink stuff that is very dense. I did a quick Google and found this http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums...ank-52809.html or http://ovas.ca/index.php?topic=22639.msg157340 I think it should answer your questions.

Awesome build!!
To my knowledge the use of Styrofoam panels under the tank is for acrylic tanks. Yours is a glass tank and i believe it is not recommended. If you want to add some support to the bottom of the tank i would suggest plywood or something similar. |

Your tank is going to be custom made right? most tanks the glass bottom panel is raised but a custom one might not be. I am getting one that isn't raised and am going to be using styrofoam underneath mine. (at the recommendation of the tank builder)

I go through the whole thread. The Pink and Blue stuff is very difficult to find here. I am trying to get some proper stuff from Naval complax.... BTW under my 120G tank I used 2 inches white Styrofoam. Nothing happen. I will try my best to find out some good stuff to put under 300G.

As you know that, Styrofoam is normally use to cover very miner gaps in between to surface. Of course, it can be used under acrylic or glass made tanks. If I directly put my aquarium on plywood or something similar it would immediately leak, because, if there is any gap between glass and the surface under tank will take more pressure of water and get

That's exactly the way I was going to do the background of my tank... then I decided that I'm not going to have a background.

It's going in a big window and I still want to be able to peak outside... as well as see the tank from the other side.
