Swissguard Basslet sighting... :)
Was able to finally get the basslet to come out. he actually is curious now and comes out to see what I am doing. he's no pic hog like old Bubba who is always lurking around.
Best thing is to feed him and he comes darting out for the food. But this time I was just there taking pic and he was posing. Here's Old Bubba the fat *** gobie... lol

Great pics. How large is the basslet and how long have you had him?

We just picked up a swissguard basslet this weekend. The fish store had it over a month and we saw it every week (we get RO water there) and eventually we caved. The fish ate last night and looks good. He is a bit secretive when the lights are on, but he is getting bolder.

rck,
Great fish, nice picks. I think this is a Swalesi Basslet not a Swissguard. The Swalesi has orange stripes with a lavendar base color. That's what the color looks like from your pics. Swissguard has red stripes with a whiteish/grey base color. I have a swalesi and prefer it over the swissguard color wise. Either way nice fish. |

All I have currently is the pink n blue spotted gobie and they dont really bother each other. I am thinking about getting a Flasher Wrasse down the road...
Not sure how any of those other fish will do with the basslet. Just remember these are "cave" dwellers so don't get use to seeing them out in the open a lot.

Yea was thinking a wrasse would give me the movement that the tank lacks... the basslet hides and the gobies a bottom dweller... so need that race car fish.. lol

My peppermint hogfish is constant motion, lots of personality and has never even once bothered my swalesi. That being said I always introduce any new fish that I think could have problems to each other by putting the new fish in a clear container that can be put inside the display so they get to know each other by look before they can attempt to start biting. Seems to really help. ;-)
