Question toadstool has black lump

New to fragging/ repairing lol. My toadstool has a black lump on its edge what do i do? Maybe cut it off as if to frag? I will post a pic asap. while taking pics the black thing fell off. When I went to pick it up it was mushy and almost melted in my fingers more like mold than a bump is this possible?
