Good or bad?

I this has been spreading slowly on the sand bed of my 75 gallon reef tank. Was looking on info as to good or bad? I haven’t messed with it much. It looks to be a hard algae like coralline. But I am not sure?

That's cyanobacteria. Siphon out as much as you can and do a decent water change to start. Bring down your feeding amount and frequency a bit, and keep an eye on it. If it keeps coming back, there are other steps you can take.

Nothing to freak out about, but it's good to get out ahead of it before it gets worse. You might want to also consider doing a 3-day blackout period to starve it of light.

+1 on the blackout. I fought cyano for about a year until I shut the lights off for 3-4 days. Has not come back since.

I’ve always just routed skimmer to flow into sump and added redslime remover followed by a decent water change.

Yes Cyano. Not bad though. More flow, maybe check you light schedule. If it can be lowered timewise that’ll help. Vibrant additive worked for me. Chemiclean seemed a little harsh on my reef system

I had 2 little patches of cyano about a month ago. Probably the size of a softball, towards the middle of my sandbed. I syphoned out what was there and upped the flow by 20% on my xf230, and it hasn’t come back since. So that’s a big +1 on more flow. I would at least try that before anything else IMO

Good luck!
