New erectus not eating
I just bought 2 dark purple lined erectus - male and female - a couple days ago. Both are very active in the tank, but not interested in eating (I have tried target feeding). My original pair - yellow female, orange male - eat from a feeding station 3 times a day.
Also, just because I am a newbie to seahorses, I noticed my yellow female looks much darker than she was a few days ago. I've read they can change, but want to make sure I shouldn't be concerned. Thanks so much!! |

My two didn't eat for the first 48 hrs. Cut your lights to low blues if you can. Mine were very shy but actively looking for hiding places is what I figured out. If they feel more comfortable and protected by the low light then it's worth a shot. Now they feed by target and bowl. Good luck!!!!

Even better than live brine shrimp is amphipods or ghost shrimp if you can get any of those.

Yes the live foods will usually get them started. You will have to train them to the feeding station but first get them something that moves to get them interested in feeding. Don't wait too long.

Nice! Where did you purchase them from? I have noticed many local fish stores selling wild caught ones. If that is the case BLUECAT is right, they will have to be trained to eat frozen. Is the male pregnant?
