Google it and you'll find mesh hand nets. You could try two hand nets, but many professional collectors use hand nets with a barrier net. It's not as easy as one would think. I'd make sure to check your local collection laws. Where are you planning to collect?

I agree , definitely check the local collection laws . I know you would need a permit
in Key Largo but I don't think that there are any left . When I first came down 30 years ago there were more collectors but it has thinned out dramatically . The hand nets with mesh bottoms work the best , when we do see Lionish on the reefs that is the technique that we use . Good luck and be safe http://www.seadwellers.com |

Some people use cast nets to collect fish. You can cover a whole section of a coral head that way.

I catch fish using my regular green aquarium net, the trick I use is to catch them at night. During the day it is almost impossible!

It is hard to get a commercial license for re-sale distribution in the Keys . I am not
sure about collection for personal use . I guess any method that works is a good one . |

A standard SW fishing license is all that's required to collect. There are strict limits on what may be collected for personal use, the size, number of specimens, etc. All of this information is readily available on line.

I have been personally collecting for myself for over twenty five years. I use Slick Nets. They come in many sizes and shapes. All are deep nets that you need to collect fish. Maui Don

I think I missed something. How did you go from fish collecting to deer?
