Wound on Gobys mouth

So a while back one of my gobys mysteriously dissappeared. His (her?) mate stopped eating soon after and eventually wasted away and died. I have tested multiple times since then and cant find a problem with the water. Anyway today I finally decided to get a new goby. At the shop he seemed fine and healthy but as soon as I got home I realised that he had a wound on his mouth. Im pretty sure it wasnt there before but dont know what could have caused it. He is in my quarantine tank now but should I dose with anything to stop it getting infected? I have Furan-2 and Baytril which can be injected or dosed into the water. There is no fuzz or anything around it so I dont think its infected yet.

API makes furan or a product called furan it is most likely a bacterial infection could be lack of water change but I'm not sure your schedule and I know erythromycin will work as well

I have Furan 2 by API. I have dosed with that today. He hasn't been in my main tank and was still in the bag when I realised so it's not my water but I don't know about the store. Where would I get erythromycin? Does it have a brand name?

A box store refers to a larger pet shop, like petsmart etc.

She's from New Zealand folks they most likely don't have the same big chain pet stores that we have in the States.

Furan is pretty forgiving, both in dosage level (has to be adequate) and in fish's ability to tolerate the treatment. It's a fairly minor injury.

You haven't heard any clicking sounds from your tank, have you? A pistol shrimp can do this kind of wound, and if it hits on the side, near the kidneys, it can kill. If you have any fish turning up with red spots, listen for a sound like a glass crack usually late at night.

If it's from a pistol shrimp it's not in my tank. I only got this guy Tuesday and he's in one of my Quarantine tanks at the moment. Not sure what happened at the shop though. So at least thats one less thing to worry about I work in the only chain pet store here and we don't have erythromycin, would somewhere else have it?

We don't stock saltwater stuff though, is it used exclusively in marine tanks?
