Hey machado, as you have tried all types of lights, i want you to try (experiment) GU10 led bulbs. these are cheap leds from china and many guys have had success with it. following your thread, i think you like to experiment things too. you are using led, MH and t5s. well here is the cool thread. i hope you like it:

Great, great, great job!!!
Wish I could start something similar here in Italy, but our bureaucracy on stony corals is crazy!!!We are both in EU, but national laws differ a lot... I know that german aquarists frag free of papers and crappy documents. In Italy for each animal we have to keep trace on a register of vendor, buyer, frags, CITES codes... how do You manage this kind of problems in Portugal? Thanks and compliments again for Your coral maternity!!!

Hello Machado de Sousa,
Greetings from Lithuania. I want to congratulate you for your wonderful execution of the propagation system. I must say, I really understand the reasond behind this system, as I feel the same way - I would love to have the same system or maybe even more elaborate with more frags One thing i'd like to ask is do You keep some kind of record about what kind of coral is placed where, which generation it is, where was it aquired from? If I were in your place I'd keep an excel spreadsheet to keep track of all the corals because given the current scale of your system I think it should be hard to keep track of it all. Anyway, best regards Machado, I am waiting for update |

Hello.
Last tuesday, me and some members from www.aquariofilia.net (one of the biggest portuguese aquarium boards) visited Machado de Sousa. Not only did we have a good time, but I also had the opportunity to take a few macro pics of some of Machado's corals. Click to see bigger  Click to see bigger  Click to see bigger  Click to see bigger  Click to see bigger  Click to see bigger  Click to see bigger Regards Luís Fortunato Last edited by Dino; 10/11/2012 at 09:02 AM. |

I have to say simply inspirational. It would be nice if something like your project happened in multiple places around the world.

Could we get an update soon?
I am REALLY interested to know what you think about the LED lights. From my experience, SPS does not color up very well under LED's when compared to T5's. |

Very soon I gonna post about my corals propagated from a single polyp. About colors under LED's after T5, in my opinion only you have to do is wait. The colors will come. Thanks for your question. Cheers,

Wow.. I just read this thread over the past two days and I am speechless. This is an amazing setup. I can't even begin to think of the work you put into this system. I think you alone could repopulate our reefs. Thanks for sharing this with everybody.

Hello Machado.
That is a SPECTACULAR display. I congratulate you on your efforts and hope that it does bring you money. There should be a grant available to help you further your efforts. I would really like to do something like that in Florida. Tampa Bay used to have live coral but it's all gone now. Very little remains in the Gulf of Mexico. It is possible to replicate what you have done. On the last leg of a trans-atlantic sail, I spent a month in the Azores and a month in Lisbon way back in the late '80's. If I could just get back there now I'd love to come and see your project. I'm going to subscribe to this thread in hopes of following your progress and your spiritual joy ! |
