Where are you sourcing the optics from?

Sorry for the late response, I'm using Carclo optics for all the 20mm star LEDs, those are the ones you find on Rapid. You can use them on the Exotic violets, you just have to remove the out plastic part and make sure it's over the diode perfectly and then just secure with silicone. Lets see, haven't done a whole lot honestly. Weather has been crap and the gf has been sick but I've done a few things.
Decided this was a better spot for the power strip, stand will have a back, and I am going to make a box for this to hide the wires. Built the sump, some of the spots are meh but shouldn't be too noticeable when filled. Bought some more wood to cover the back and inner sides. With the sump in, the whole inside and along the edges are getting sealed, wood filled and painted.

It's an American Dj powerstrip. You can buy them locally at places like Sam Ash or other instrument stores. Can also buy them on Amazon for around $30.

I know what you mean about the weather. I started staining my stand, then we got 3 days of rain. Took maybe a day and a half after the rain for it to dry. I should be starting a build thread here myself soon, just want to get a little farther along before posting.

I really don't know, I know at SamAsh is was like $29.99+ tax and you get to take it home instead of having it shipped.

Looks like you'll have plenty of room in that sump.

I had a reactor that I bought a few months back from a local guy on here. Had the bottom cut off so I could make it a recirculating reactor. Also picked up a free piece of acrylic for the base. I am going to go get some plumbing tonight and see what I can come up with.

So, it's been some time since I even updated this. I've since sold all of my light stuff to Anthony and another member on another forum. Just decided to use the money for other aspects of the build, and I won't need light for a bit anyways. First thing I had to do was make the stand longer and wider, and that was acomplished thanks to Ted. Got the plumbing done, and a few other things.
Mocking up the plumbing. Finished the plumbing and painted everything black. Still need to touch up the return but overall happy with it.

Now for the stand, it was seriously terrible before. How much the sump stuck out before.
Now widened and made longer Bought some 1x6's to make a facade for the front. Looks much better. Nothing is secured yet, just getting an idea of how it is going to look. More to come soon.

Looking good! Clean and you're not rushing. Doing it right FTW! Glad you were able to keep the tank project going after your issues.

You know, I was going to try to patch the stand so the tank wasn't sitting off of it, but in the end, it only cost me $15 to make it longer and wider which is fine. Definitely not rushing this thing. I rushed setting up my last tank and I was never happy with it. Thanks for the kind words. Im definitely glad I decided to push forward with this thing.

Turning the skimmer into a recirculating skimmer. IF, I keep the skimmer, well if I can fix the thing, while I was taking the stand apart I dropped a piece of the wood and it put like 4-5 cracks in the body of the skimmer. Going to take it to faois and see if John think it's fixable. But it's getting a new pump anyways so I am just going to make it a recirculating anyways.

I could have bought a really nice premade stand for what I'll have into this damn thing. The stand structure was around $55 then the front boards were $30, the two side pieces were $45 but, atleast its all birch. I was going to use mdf since I'm waiting it anyway but, mdf was so heavy compared to the birch.

No, I'm leaving it open. Stand is about 85% done, drill died so I have to recharge it so I can screw in the top horizontal piece.

Picked up some 1/2" board and closed off the inside......this stand is seriously becoming even nicer than I had originally planned.
