Planning on starting a display refugium

Adding a 29 gallon display refugium to my 60 cube. Plan on plumbing it to my sump. My goal is something that looks nice and is a nice place for pods to breed. Nutrient export wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Here are my plans so far, plumbing will be an overflow box with a Herbie overflow. From my understanding the nicer display algae do not need high flow. so i think the return pump will be enough? or i might add a small powerhead.

As for what display algaes i am thinking
red and green Gracilaria
Maybe a shaving brush
Red bush algae
Any other good algae for a display refugium?

As for substrate i heard with a slow flowing refugium a DSB could be very beneficial? My LFS recommended 3 inches of mud 1 inch of sand. Personally dont want to use mud, Any suggestion on how to set this up?

If i do a DSB i know i would need a lot of life, I will be adding multiple types of PODS. Do i need anything else?

If i do a shallow substrate would i need a different clean up crew?
