who has a hanna phosphate checker? got a question

well i got mine today and two two test to make sure i did it right.. wasted a regent already. anyhow i got .04 ppm on the phostphates which im guessing inst all that bad...

anyhow the question is the two curvette tubes seem to be a bit different in size. any reason for this? also is it ok to fill both with tank water use one to zero the meter and have the other with the regent in it? i ask because the meter shuts off in 1.5 minutes and the regent isnt really dissolved yet by then..

you should use the same curvette you used to zero the meter and fill it with the reagent, shake it really hard for maybe 30-45 seconds, put back in meter and hold the button for 3 seconds and it will count down,
only bad thing is it displays the results for 10 seconds then its gone!
you should have ordered a box of test packets also

Didn't know it used regents when I ordered it. Any reason there is 2 size curvettes? I know I should use the same but in slow. Dn thing kept shutting off..

.04 ppm is that much higher than .00?

im down to .9 now

dont forget it has a error lever or +/- ..04
so you might be at 0.0 or closer to it

My curvettes are the same size. I think you should contact Hanna. My P04 tested at 0.0. However I have bubble algae. It seemed to have slowed if not stopped recently. I really wish you could dictate when you wanted to proceed to the next step. I've wasted reagents by trying to get the powder to completely dissolve and ended up losing the calibration (step one.) ARGH!!!

i think the concern is that both curvettes may not have the same clarity. Example: you mentioned the two you have are not the same size.

EASonline or something like that has no shipping I think. THats where I got my unit. If you look in the chemistry forum there are lots of post regarding this.

I guess if you were able to make a test solution. You could test whether using the both vials would be an issue. I'd volunteer a reagent packet or two for this test. It would certainly make it easier for me to use the tester if I could use one vial as a calibration and the other to premix and have ready to go.

Mitch- I hope you meant .09, because .9 is higher than .23.

BTW- You dont have to shake until ALL reagent is disolved. Its expected to have some left without disolving.

the 100 pack is for the expensive phosphate meter, the 25 pack is for the checker mini meter, not sure if their is a diffrence in agents or not

I have tested both Hanna Phosphate and the Alkalinity using the same cuvette and both of them at the same time and I have gotten the same results regardless, I am very impressed with these test kits.
I didn't know they had a nitrate for salt water, but I have all the other ones and they rock.
