How much flow do you Gigantea owners have in your tanks?

Obviously S. Gigantea require a ton of random flow (and lighting) but how much turn over in units of gallons per hour do you guys have in your tanks? Are your powerheads on wave-makers? What kind of powerheads are you using?

I don't own a gigantea yet but I have one on order and I have 4 koralia powerheads on a wave-maker. My system yeilds 400 gallons per hour roughly. Coming from my sump I also have 3 returns that are equally strong as my powerheads if not stronger. Hope this helps.

Are you sure you got your numbers right? You're system only yeilds 400 gallons per hour? That's not much at all.

I got my numbers wrong, I read the pumps, I actually have 1000-1100 gallons per hour.

That still seems pretty low unless you have a really small tank but if that's the case you wouldn't be able to properly house a S. Gigantea.

the tank is a 46 reef, and the flow is normal. Right now I'm upgrading my overflow to a stronger one as this tank did not come with a built in one. After thats completed I will be adding 2 strong output pumps.

Keep in mind that normal flow won't cut it for a Gigantea.

Anyone else?

IMHO, the total gallons/hour isn't going to help you much. It's the placement of the flow that's really important. In the system below, I had a haddoni (low flow anemone) and a gigantea (high flow anemone) and was able to create localized environments to keep them both happy.

This is in a 40 breeder. There's a mag 9.5 return, and a mag 9.5 on a closed loop pushing through a SCWD.

I agree with you, by the time the change is made I will not only have a higher gph flow but I will strategically place my powerheads and run them at full power. I have a wave-maker that allows me to run at all different kinds of settings.

In the video above, there was two 250W 14K MH's in Luminark mini reflectors sitting about one inch above a 40 breeder.

I just moved the anemone to a 120. I plan on changing the 14k MH's to 10K and adding 4 actinic T5's.
