Sorry blurry pic
had to move my mandarin down to the fuge. Not enough pods are getting into the main tank and he has started to get weak. Hopefully he'll recover in the fuge.

Unfortunately the mandarin died. I tried to rescue it from a fellow reefer and I thought he was getting better, but I was wrong.
Now on to better things. The montipora that was just a pink speck a few weeks ago is starting to take shape. My toxic green GSP is growing well, but closes up every few days. Not sure why. Also got this small clam a week ago. I put it on top of a rock, but it moved itself back into the sand. And my acro is not growing much upward, but is encrusting downwards quite a bit And my clown loves her frogspawn

Tried to capture an image of my porites last night, but the lights were deep into ramp down. You can kind of see the lighter outer ring 3-4mm of growth

Couple of growth shots. The first one here is 14 days growth. Mostly spreading to the frag plug. Used a filter on the first pic so the color looks different.
This one below is my first acro colony. Showing 5 weeks growth. Tissue is spreading to areas that had previously died off in someone else's tank.

So I've been having a growing flatworm problem that I've ignored for months mainly due to fear of killing things. Today I pulled the trigger on treating my tank. I used one capful of Flatworm Exit. Put it in this morning about 20 minutes after lights came on. Almost immediately tons of flatworms started dying. After about 30 minutes, I turned on the carbon (about 1lb of carbon in my phosban reactor). Watched the tank intermittently throughout the day and seems like most of the flatworms are now dead. I sucked out a bunch of them with a small siphon. I was going to change some water, but everything looks pretty happy. I'll probably end up changing about 10 gallons tomorrow anyways. This treatment was really effective. Great product.

Ok so everything lived through the flatworm exit treatment including a few flatworms. I threw in another dose this morning and the remaining flatworms seemed immune to it. Odd. I also decided to change a few things. The Xenia colony was getting out of hand, so I removed the rock it was attached to and threw it in the back yard. I'll let the sun cure the rock and I'll clean it later and attach a different coral to it. I also decided to put my bubble coral in the upper left corner where the Xenia used to be. Then I put my Duncan and Leptastrea where the bubble used to be.

Did some more work this weekend. Spent about 2 more hours on Xenia removal. Such a pain, should never have introduced Xenia into my tank. After scraping and siphoning most of the Xenia, I made some other changes and moves. Moved my torch, glued it to the rack. Also moved my Ricordea up front.
And no, my acro isn't bleached , just horrible photography skill and equipment (old iphone) So this was weird. You can see the clam front and center in the first pic. Overnight it moved itself up onto the rock with the blue shrooms..how it 'climbed' the rock is crazy

pump
What size Aqua Excel pump are you using for the setup? Looking to put together a 65 DSA as soon as I can compile all the parts I want to use.
Thanks! |

Not much going on in the main tank, so I thought I'd throw in a random fuge shot. Wasn't having great success with other macros, so I caved and threw in a clump of chaeto I got from my LFS. That stuff grows like crazy! I noticed my pH Drop isn't as drastic at night any more either.

One thing about desert life is that things change quickly..akin to a light switch. Time to install the heater

Temp is back under control. I only had a nano heater laying around, so it took awhile for temp to come up. I have it programmed to turn on at 77 and off at 78. House heat has not been turned on yet.. Will put that off as long as possible. I plan to buy a more appropriate heater (or 2) this month
Also this little white coral is of interest. It was in a group of random frags I bought a few months ago. I thought it was a little white sponge, but in the last few days I noticed brown spots on it, so I thought it was rotting away. I looked closer and they are actually polyps! Anyone know what it is?

Great thread! And you are hands down the best pic-poster I've encountered. Keep up the great work!
