Hi all,

I've been too busy to visit much, unfortunately. Tank is doing well but colors are a tad drab ... well, damn good but not perfect. While I measure low nitrates and PO4 the tank behaves as if the nutrients are high and the Xenia is going wild.

I've decided to start a little NOPOX to see how the tank reacts. Starting with 5ml daily and skimming a little wetter than normal. So far everything looks fine, skimmate stinks more, no other changes good or bad.

FTS's and a crappy video.

Wow!! Mark that’s fantastic. You’ve had the same type of growth as jbny. The colonies look amazing.
Stunning, man!
Are you still using lc with the nopox?

Thanks for sharing your video. I really like it. Xenia looks much prettier than bryopsis.

Thanks for the compliment. It's a Nikon D5500 using a Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens. Editing done in Movie Studio Platinum 14.0 which was on sale last year for $30.

Bulent- king of the deadpan.

Mark, I’ve read that nopox is formulated to work more on po4.. I wonder if you’ll need the lc going forward..

Good question Matt, I am trying to keep a sharp eye out for any stress, in case I drop PO4 or NO3 too low.

Hey Mark, why start no pox when nutrients are already low?

I don't think Nitrate is really low, it's being consumed by the Xenia which is starting to really grow faster than I can keep up with. The idea is to put reasonable pressure on the nitrate loving softies while not nuking the tank. To compensate I'm feeding the corals a little more often than normal, but only time will tell.

My 40 gallon has a different problem. Xenia grows very slowly and if I don't feed or if I do anything to lower PO4 or Nitrates I experience coral health decline. Algae grows on the tank walls any in any bare spots, it's a neglected tank, yet the SPS still grow like crazy and overall the tank looks great. I need to get this balance in the 150 is possible.

This is my neglected 40 gallon.

Thanks Sergi.

I'm 2 weeks into NOPOX now, 5ml a day which is the maintenance dose for this tank. Water is noticable clearer and skimmate stinks, both expected. The clowns started laying eggs again last week after skipping a month. No idea if the is a coincidence or not.

Colors, ooh boy, colors have gone up a couple of notches. Most noticeable is the pink milli, which has lost most of it's brown, and and lemonade like acro which is simply off the charts, best color I've ever seen.

Unfortunately (though a good problem to have) the slimer is going to take advantage of this and is putting on another massive growth spurt. The best is huge and starting to shade multiple acros now.

Notice new growth tips missing from the last picture.

Thanks Greg, just checked out your thread, ooooh weee it's looking good! I wish I had a tank that size.

So my newer MP40 QD basket seized up, fortunately I was near the tank when the dry side started bouncing around. I had turned on feed mode and it locked up when coming back out of it. Magnet looks to have swelled, I can see rust and gunk. New one is on the way. My older basket is still going strong. Hrmph.

In the meantime I have my giant spaceship Tunze doing the work, turned down low so it doesn't strip the flesh off of any acro. It might be a tad oversized for this tank. Did a good job of moving the sand around and stirring up some dirt that the skimmer took care of.

Thanks Connor!

Finally got some topdowns, using a new shorter topdown box. I can't get really wide angles, but I can do wider than before. Here we go.

Palmer's Blue just might, maybe, finally, be showing more blue. It hates my tank.

Pinkish milli up high

The colony down low, which has some better colors IMO.

One of the two frags that survived the apocalypse.

The other, which appears to be tabling.

The Lokani is movable, I just don't know where to move it.

Horrida still goes through dieback and then rapid growth. Seems to prefer the level of flow just below where it gets skin stripped off.

Red Robin is good from this angle, but mostly grey brown.

Have to get above the waterline to get this shot.
