Feed, feed, and feed some more. I went from 25ppm nitrates to 0.2ppm nitrates. Colors definitely fade under low nutrients.

My bio load was pretty small for the first couple months, mostly consisting of a fish or two. I added a black line blenny and a canary blenny to my watchman goby a month ago. I added two clown fish last night and will probably add two bar gobbies soon. I think that should be a decent sized stock for a tank of this size. |

We struggle to get low nutrients only to see corals fade...I stopped chasing them and just feed like crazy when stuff fades these days.

Nice looking setup. I love my SCA 66G, great quality for the price.

Great build love the equipment list. Tank looks really great. How or what epoxy did you use for placing everything?

After slow to no growth and brown coral, I removed the 150 watt Giesmann and replaced it with a 400 watt radium in Lumenmax 2 reflector with a Galaxy ballast. I borrowed a PAR meter and saw that most of my coral were under no more than 150 PAR.

That should certainly perk them up.
Will you acclimate them to the new light?

I raised the light to 15" and I'll probably only run it a few hours this week and maybe go up an hour over the next several weeks. I don't see the light cycle being more than 6 hours though. I may have to go with a 250 as I'm concerned with heat right now. Tank raised quickly today.

That's a nice combo, same as I run. I ran the 400 last winter and switched to the 250 for the summer. I know at 12", that 400 Radium combo will put 1600 par at the surface. With the 250 at the same height you should get about 1200. Go slow...

I also bought this new acrylic ATO reservoir. It has an access door on top thats roughly 4" x4". The reactor holds 5 gallons and has a viewing window on the front to see the water level, although you need good lighting to see inside. There is also a 1.5"-2" round hole in the back for the tubing and pump to access the reservoir. Quality build. You can see my old 1.5-1.75 gallon reservoir in the back of pic 1. I got tired of continually filling it up. Last edited by kevin_e; 10/08/2016 at 05:04 PM. |

I also bought a new skimmer. I wasn't satisfied with my Skimz SN123. I could never get skimmate to collect. Just got some gunk on the neck. I think it was too big.
I ended up buying the Ice Cap K-50. It's tiny, but very well built. Thick acrylic walls and a true gate valve. Only complaints I have are that the silencer is screwed to the cap and air tube connection to the pump isn't snug. Same with the pump outlet into the skimmer body. Those are easy fixes if necessary. This is not my pic, obviously Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk |

This tank has been offline since June due to a move. As of yesterday, the tank is back up and water is starting to go back in tonight. Should be plumbed by Thrusday or Friday.
A local aquarium store has had all my live stock in shop. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Yep. Much nicer look, and I missed the shimmer. I've had my mist rewarding success using halide. My 55 a few years back was stunning. Ran 2 250 watt Phoenix bulbs and 4 T5s.
