The last part of the video show you how to program in expert mode, step by step.
Just in case if we are not talking about the same video, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOACyN4AOS0

I just purchased the AI unit. It didn't ship yet so tell me, I'm sure we all read the same material, why did you go Vertex? What other lights did you look at? What was the NUMBER 1 deciding factor.

I'm not buying an AI because they look less appealing than others, I'm torn between Vertex and Sfiligoi Genesis....

After I got the fixture, it also took me some time to figure it out. Hope this video can help out new owners.

Kmu - I know my 200 series does not have optics. I like the look better than the LED setups that use optics, IMO better shimmer effect. I'm not sure about the 260 or the 200s that now use the Cree...sorry, didn't look into it, afraid I might want to upgrade. Hehe.
Anyone out there with this light have any of their micros in their tank go nuts? I have some crazy neomeris growing in my tank at the moment...I know nutrients are a contributing factor, and my tank is new, but just wondering if anyone with an established tanks noticed their macros loving it if anyone has them? |

I got a 48x18x18 rimless mixed reef tank that is used to an ATI sunpower 6x54
Would 2 illumilux fixtures work for me? I plan on a 48" Marino Bianco with 12 cree leds 7k and 12 cree royal blue 450nm, and a Marino Blu with 12 cree royal blue 450nm and 12 cree blue 470nm This are 48 CREE LEDs with 120 degree optics for a 48x18x18 mixed reef tank

I am also looking at this option but I think it depends to what you like to kep in this tank. what is your bulb combo for the 6 x54? I emailed vertex on Illumilux; they said on the illumilux the control is not onboard you have to purchase a PWM module from Vertex that is controlled via 1-10 V and can be connected to any controller that is capable of 1-10 v control. In your case I would go for a 36" Illumina 200 if the budget is there. This is what I am planning on getting for a 4' x2' x2' since my tank will have 2 small islands of rock only. I saw the Illumina on a local reefers tank and it's truly amazing product and bright as hell, my opinion much brighter and more flexible than AI SOL blue. Good luck with your light purchase. Dave |

How much does the Illumina 200 in the 36" run for? The 2 48" illumilux would run for around $900 How much is the PWM controller from vertex?

I also had in mind going either with 2 48" illumilux or 3 36" fixtures...

Oh, I know a lot of it is my new tank but the stuff also likes high light...a lot of people wouldn't mind this stuff in their tank but can't get it to grow. All the other cycle algaes and stuff have run their course yet this stuff keeps truckin' on...just trying to isolate variables so I can get the upperhand on it.

4 Blue plus & 2 purple plus! This is really blue!! No white bulbs? If that is what you want then you should be fine with the Illumilux I guess. I saw the Illumilux at Macna & they look great about 1" thick & maybe 2" wide! Premium had it at their booth, from what I was told you can slide them on the side of eachother to cascade them, can be used with hanging kit or legs. They did not know how much the PWM module will cost since will be released in March they said. What are you keeping in this tank? Dave |

Yeah I had in mind if I go with 2 or 3 illumilux I could slide them one on the side of each other and hang them. Maybe a single 36" Marine Blu for dawn and dusk and 2 Marine Bianco for daylight. I could start with one Blu and one Bianco and add a third one if neccesary

I need an extra opinion. I have a custom rimless 40 breeder being built. The plan is a mixed reef. nothing too hard to keep. Mostly "Nano" livestock. Not sure which light to get. I want to limit light shining outside of the tank so I may get the 24 inch. Will this be enough coverage? And which model? Is the 260 worth the extra money?
so.... 24 or 36 inch? 200 or 260? |
