Since i just installed a 5000 ext and i didn't see a club tread yet i figured i would start it.

Lets see those pics and comments.

I'll join the club. Here are my pictures. Been running it for a couple weeks now. This is not the xp cone model but as you can see it is essentially a 1/2 cone. All the bubble action takes place in the cone section.

Here is the stand I made so that it will run in 6 inches of water, my sump is designed with 9" of water

30 minutes after plugging it in. So much for a break in period!!!

After one day.

Overall I am very impressed. I would say it is taking out 2-3 times what my old asm G3 was. And this is only rated to 180 gallons while the G3 is rated to 250. Well built and runs ways cooler as well.

Looks like a great skimmer. Congrats. I like the design of the cone and cylinder combo better than a cone. Post more pics when it gets really broken in. Did it come with the bb2000 or 3000?

My SRO 2000 came with a bubble blaster 2000 pump.

Just bought The SRO 3000 with the BB pump. This this is a beast for sure. Definitely worth the money.

I just ordered a Octopus 1000sss Cone for my new Elos 70 that will be delivered later this month. I can't wait to get it. From everything I've read these things are great performers.

I got the 1000 SSS internal for Christmas that'll go on my new 75 gallon. Hopefully I'll try to post some pics when it's up and running.

Any advice on internal and external water level? I've heard 5-7 inches in water is a good range.

Just received my Octopus 1000sss and I'm very impressed. I've owned Deltec, SWC, Tunze, and some others before and the quality of this skimmer is very nice. I think it's the nicest acrylic of any previous skimmer I've had including the Deltec. Here are some pics of the packaging and comparison shots of it in my 20 gallon Elos Mini aquarium.

ok im in these skimmers are great im very impressed.here's my sss1000 on my 60gallon prop tank.

i also have another sss1000 on my 75gal.
here's the sss5000int on the new 375gallon this thing is a beast.

No, that is my Elos Mini aquarium. I just thought I would take pictures in it for size comparisons. That aquarium is a 17" cube, 20 gallons.

I got the 5000sss, it has been two weeks, but still no foam. what's the deal? i've adjusted so the bubble is right at the neck with 9.5" water level. i keep playing with the valve to raise the bubble up\down, but no luck. advice please.

tank been running for 3 months, skimmer is an upgrade from octopus 150.

Hi again Popper... I am running mine in 8" of water and with adjustments I can skim some nasty thick drier skimmate or very wet. What size tank again and what sort of bioload?

hey cakeman. think we pm'ed. i have a 300 gallon with 3-4" bed sand, about 300lbs lr, a fuge with mangroves\chaeto and a sump with lr. i currently have 3 3-4" fish. i feed once a day. think i don't have enough gunk in there to clean?

Yes we did pm... I was looking at your picture of your set up. How long has the skimmer been running again? And it could be not enough stuff. But that should not make it all big bubbles. Mine did over flow on more than one occasion until it broke in and I got everything set up where I wanted t.

Hi Guys,
I just bought the SRO ext5000 for my new 220g tank, i was wondering if anyone that has this skimmer could post some pics of how they have it set up.
originally i was planning on just drilling 2 holes in the sump and running pipes to feed it and a pipe for the return, but i have been informed that the return pipe cant be below the water line cue to back pressure, i am not able to raise the height of the skimmer very much, nor do i want it outside the cabinet so i can raise it high enough.
cabinet is powder-coated galvanised steel 6'x2.5 x just over 3foot high
sump is 4'x20"x20" waterdump/bubbletrap/fuge/DSB/bubbletrap/return
any help or sugesstions would be great as well as current set up pic

Do y'all think a SRO-5000 might be overkill for a moderately stocked but heavily fed 250G + 75G sump SPS tank?

I was thinking about SRO-3000 or Hurricone Cat 2 as space is not an issue and the price differences aren't much.

I just want a skimmer that will perform consistently and not just spin it's wheels...

Thanks for the advice! That pic is a bit outdated and I have actually put a 90 degree elbow on the outlet some time ago. No more noise, splash,salt creep.
