I'm in da club!! Got the SRO-1000 Int for my 50 Breeder (70 gallons total). This is basically a system redo so not much in the way of organics yet. Put the skimmer in last night. I thoroughly rinsed my GFO and put it online. Within 15 minutes the skimmer skimmed out the leftover gfo particles and then stopped skimming. WOW! These things are a great design. Great build quality!

You can see all of that in THIS thread with pics and vids. Once it is dialed in, it performs better than my SRO 2000.

Here's a pic from when I was cycling

[QUOTE=wildman926;20622017]These skimmers work best at 6". If any higher, you start losing control of the water level internally.
Only if it skims inconsistantly, i.e. overflowing one day, and the next nothing. Thats strange the directions state: 6-10 inches....

I took Wildmans advice and my SRO-1000 INT skims like a beast now.

My apologies, my model isn't in the SRO line...didn't realize it! Don't worry about my dark passenger, I've got him under control...for now
I DID want a SRO model, I think they are great skimmers and it was my top choice. Due to a 10" water level, it turned out not to be an option for me. Jeremy at coralvue recommended the diablo, and said it would work great in about 9", so that's how I ended up with this skimmer.

what is the mod on your skimmer @James77
My SRO XP 2000 won't skim sh!t.....I've tried different mods and water levels and nothing....been running it for a yr with no luck...I have a 125 mixed reef with medium bioload.... I perform 20 gal water changes weekly to do what the skimmer won't |

I think I can join the club...but I am confused....I just bought a 1000LSS skimmer.
The CV website says: Item #: OCT-1000ls - Super Reef Octopus 1000 LS Space Saver Protein Skimmer.... The Premium Aquatics website says: Super Reef 6.3" Limited Space Saver Protein Skimmer, code-Code: CV-SRO-1000LSS My box and directions say: Reef Octopus RO-PS-1000LSS. They did ship a Bubble Blaster HY-1000S pump in a separate box....What is the diff between a SRO model and RO model skimmer?
