10G JBJ Cubey build out

I was 'dry' for more than five years but couldn't stay away. I sorta got permission from the wife to setup a nano if:
- I don't mod the heck out of it with tubes/wires running everywhere
- It's quiet
- I don't make a mess doing water changes
- I don't spend 'too' much money on it.

I'm going to try really hard to keep to these promises but I've already got eyes on a tank controller and nano skimmer...

Attached are initial setup pics : 10# caribsea live sand, 10# caribsea real fake LR

I had some bact cultures from oh five years ago and according to manufacturer so long as the ampules are intact there is no shelf life and should have no problems using them.

As others have pointed out, the stock pump is OK with good flow but noisy. I ended up swapping out with Aquatop 118GPH pump to reduce turnover volume in favor of adding internal flow pump (Koralia nano)

So what do you think of the tank so far. They get some mixed reviews. I'd like to do one as a fresh water planted tank. Probably the 20 gallon. I do t want to buy junk. Thanks

It's a solid all-in-one tank and if possible get with matching stand. I got mine on a black friday special and saved 25%.

Finally added RKL and two Vortech MP10ES for proper tank circulation.

- install and setup reeflink to control vortech promps via ecomarine live

AI Prime installed with no problems. App was able to connect with it after I first joined its wifi SID then configured for 'acclimation mode' with default spectrum. I love the shimmer you get from the light just like metal halide!

I using default silver metal hangled arm for now. It works and it is certainly easy to adjust exactly where you want it and it stays put. A bit on the ugly side. Might try flexible arm some day.

Nice setup. Your wife sounds a lot like mine. Having the same conversation from the first post right now.

Trying to keep the setup as simple as possible without the usual wires all over the place, towels, etc. Let me know how your project goes!

Tank is really responding well to both the increased water flow and light intensity.

Added AquaLift to help replace the daily quarter cup water loss to evaporation once I removed the canopy. I have two float switches on the way.

Today I was able to find time to do changes : swapped out the silver angled AI prime angled arm with black goose neck. Much nicer!

Was also able to add micro skimmer by Reef Glass. Basically an open bottomed test tube with lime wood air stone. Used very quiet eheim to drive it and had to used lowest 3watt setting and dial back on air. We shall see if the collection portion can actually collect skimate.

Upgraded both Vortech drivers from ES to QD today. Like that they blend with black lacquer stand. Very quite. Spend 30 min trying to get EcoSmart live to forget old ES and recognize new QD drives but eventually it all worked out.
