Hello Mike !

Well I have noticed that the softs and the few lps corals are more open fully extended, looks more healthy and better coloration. I think that the M. Halides was too strong
for these corals. I am trying to keep some SPS this was not possible except for the Montiporas that are doing well with the LEDS. Certainly there was a change in my reef tank. I want to mention that there is a lack of information in Panama very few hobbyst and only one store that sell fishes and some corals. I have to obtain all pertaining information abt the reef systems, corals and fishes in the internet.

Regards
Fernando Chang

hey Solitude, i love your tank!
beautiful!
i noticed in the photos of your system, it looks like you have a dsb in your sump. is that the case?
you mentioned using a fuge with macro algae, in the beginning... did you ultimately remove the macro or did it die off with the pellets and was the dsb there from the beginning of your build or was it added later?
thanks and great tank!

Hi Matt,
That part of the sump you mention is my refugium and yes, I do have a deep sand bed in my refugium. I also do have chaetomorpha growing in my refugium as well. Even with running pellets, I still get good growth for the chaetomorpha. The refugium with a DSB was added to my tank about 6 months after I started it up, I was using a 40B as a sump but decided to get a custom sump built with a built-in refugium.

Long over due Mike! Congrats!

Thanks for all of your help with my own build. Always appreciate your insightful feedback on my build thread.

Hope to see your tank in person someday!

As Will Smith says in the movie "Hancock"
"Good Job"!

Are there any disadvantages to vacuuming your ssb? Are you not removing all the good critters?

You mention vacuuming your sand bed. Stupid question but doesn't the sand just follow the water? Are you having to replace your sand from time to time?

Beautiful tank, Mike!!

How high off the surface do you keep your fixture?
I've got a 6x39 over a 40B, and I'm currently trying to dial in the lights. Thanks.
