Ahhh your getting ahead of me. Spoiler alert lol. Since the overflow is in the rear left of tank I plan to pipe the 1” return over the top in the right rear corner. Where it enters the tank, I will have a 1” tee which will split to (2) 3/4” return nozzles. That way the flow will be right to left across the tank. I don’t know if I’ll get it done this weekend as I have to work, but will post pics as soon as I get it done.

Ok, so a few questions. First, did you ever find any termites from the inspection? Second the return, how does it look? I personally think you have the double drain pipe too low, water draining over the over flow with make a lot of noise, depending on your flow. Over all I love this build.

Did I find termites? Sure did. I actually went with a spray system and not tent. I had concerns about my dogs (4) and where to put them. I did have them spray the stand.

The drain is in per herbie. The overflow drain is 1/2” below the bottom of overflow inlet. The area between the double drains and the overflow drain is completely full of water. The herbie drain is set up so you have a trickle down the overflow. This keeps main drain full and noiseless. I hope that helps.

Reading along for the first time. Reading your first post made me sick to my stomach. We were lucky in my neighborhood we never lost power. I've been debating on buying a generator and a small window unit to have for this hurricane season. You sure as hell can't find them anywhere if there is a storm even remotely close.

Sorry I’ve been quiet. Tried plumbing the tank and had a bulkhead failure. Couldn’t get them tight. Ordered new parts started again. Piped the return 2 weeks ago.

Then put the rock in last week.

Finally got it wet this weekend

Here’s a shot of the final plumbing.

I also added some marinepure an 8”x8” block and an 1” thick tile to assist with filtration.

I have one 20 gallon batch of water mixing and hope to start the system tomorrow. Current water volume is 120 gallons. I believe I’ll be close to 140 total gallons including sump.

Now for lights and controls...I have a little time as I’ve ordered pods and we will let them grow for a month or so. I’ll just be running the return for now.

Also routed the fan wiring through some pvc molding

And set hood on top of tank

It was a big worry as I only have about 1 1/2” of clearance to the ceiling when hood is fully opened

You’ll also see some controls/wires in front. I’m running all in hand while I’m setting up controller. I was missing some PAB control wires but also found GHL has a controller for EcoTech pumps. Ordered All and it is on the way.

Added the bacteria

Bought these leds at a big box store to light under the cabinet.

(2) 36” under the tank and (1) 12” for the control cabinet.

Finished the control install now just have to cap the pvc wire duct.

Also need to complete light install and programming.

Looks great, do you have all the fans turning in one direction? or are they alternating?

Nice job. Was it difficult setting up the Vortech controller? I have one but could not set it up. The guys at GHL could not help either.

Nice set up!

Why did you not get a pre-drilled tank or run an external Overflow box? I have the same Controller and Doser! I am currently building my SCA 150 with my control panel!
