Clownfish jumping

I don’t have a lid on my tank, and I plan on getting clownfish. Do clownfish jump out the water? Should I get a lid?

yes. always a risk of fish jumping when you dont have a cover.

after awhile, clownfish usually stick to one area. once they do that, itll be a little bit safer to take off the lid.

good luck

Does Home Depot cut glass to whatever size you want?

Ace hardware does. A solid cover like that could create condensation issues and you may want to do a DIY screen cover.

Well what would I know?
I have had a 10 gal marine tank with anemone and clown fish in it since 2008. It has a 1/4 plexiglass cover that I manually cut to fit on the tank.
I did have a clown fish jump out but that was when I was cleaning the tank and had the cover off.

Maybe I am lucky, but the only time I have had a clown jump, it went over the beck of the tank into the overflow box.

Now on the other hand, I have lost a couple of firefish to jumping... after the first one I cut a plexiglass cover for the tank, and the second one jumped when I had it off for feeding. And yes it does have an effect on evaporation, which I actually like not losing water so fast, and I don't have any temperature issues, and plenty of surface agitation and cascading from my filter for oxygen transfer.
