Great looking tanks. I am experiencing pretty good growth and excellent color with LEDs in my 50 gallon SPS tank as long as my water chemistry stays at ideal levels...............Jim

Is there a specific make/model LED setup that works exceptionally well with SPS?

In the process of upgrading my SPS tank and need to make a decision soon as the tank is ordered.

I've had good luck with T5 but prefer the look and lack of heat off the LED's.

Thoughts?

I've just taken a bit of a punt and ordered 2 maxspect ethereals. They are pretty new so untested for SPS but I am hoping they do a good job. They have some nice features and the light they produce looks good on the videos I have watched. Time will tell if they grow SPS like my T5's

They are the OR-T247's. I absolutely love them. I had an Elos Planet 2 halide/T5 system and went back to these due to heat issues. I had one of these fixtures on my last tank for about 1.5-2 years and I had great growth and coloration.

The only place I've ever seen the disco effect is in a small cave that has some small opening on the top so light can trickle down into it. But no disco effect on the open visible areas. Since the LEDs are all spread out it blends in quite nicely.

Well.....it's time to bump this thread up....

My new project.....started in october-2016
Now it's running with 4 Hydras52 + 4 Vegas.
The Vegas are running since january 2013 but the Hydras are a bit newer.
Always use AI with great results.
